As TAC’s Employment Coordinator, Nick oversees a wide range of programs designed to help individuals prepare for, find, and succeed in meaningful careers. From Group Employment and OOD services to Transition programs and ongoing employment supports, his department helps people pursue careers of their choice and build the skills they need to succeed.
We sat down with Nick to learn more about what drives his work, what makes him proud, and why employment can play such an important role in creating more accepting communities.
How would you describe your role at TAC?
“I oversee TAC’s employment services, including Group Employment, OOD services, Transition services, and Individual Employment Support. Our department helps people find careers of their choice and provides the training and support they need to maintain those positions.”
What part of TAC’s mission connects with you the most?
“The idea that all people are equal and deserve to be viewed and respected as such - not only in the workplace, but throughout their community. I love knowing that what I do directly promotes that.”
What’s your favorite part of your job?
“Seeing the direct impact we can have. Watching someone train at TAC, find the career they want, and then excel in that career is one of my favorite parts of the job.”
What are you most proud of in your career so far?
“I’m proud of the impact our department has had on the people we’ve supported, but also the role we’ve played in changing our community’s mindset about employment for people with disabilities. I’m especially proud of my team and how they continue that work every day.”
What do you think is an important quality for success?
“Know your mission and keep pushing toward it. Adapt when necessary, but always keep moving forward.”
What helps you be successful as a leader?
“Knowing the ultimate goal and helping your team achieve it. You also have to be flexible enough to adapt and change along the way.”
What’s something people might be surprised to learn about you?
“I can do a front flip.”
What’s something you’ve always wanted to learn?
“How to play piano and how to paint.”
For Nick, employment services are about more than helping someone find a job.
