Maddie leads a team dedicated to helping individuals prepare for employment, find meaningful careers, and succeed in the workplace. Through guidance, advocacy, and strong partnerships with local employers, she helps create opportunities that can change lives far beyond the workplace.
We sat down with Maddie to learn more about what motivates her and why she believes employment opens the door to so much more.
How would you describe your role at TAC?
“I supervise the services that help our clients prepare for work, find employment, and retain their positions in the community.”
What part of TAC's mission connects with you the most?
“My connection comes from my family's history of supporting people with disabilities. As the third generation in my family to work alongside this community, I want to continually find ways to do better for the people we support.”
What's your favorite part of your job?
“Helping someone achieve their employment goals because it creates opportunities that extend far beyond work, like driving a car, living independently, making friends, and building the life they want.”
What do you think is the most important quality someone needs to be successful?
“Empathy. It allows you to truly understand the person you're supporting instead of viewing them as a problem to solve.”
Where do you think you have the biggest impact in your role?
“Empowering job seekers to want more for themselves while also helping businesses become more accessible and inclusive for all employees.”
If you could change one thing about your job, what would it be?
“I would change the need for my job to exist. I hope for a future where every employer already understands the value people with disabilities bring to the workforce and where hiring and workplace practices are naturally accessible and inclusive.”
What helps you be most successful in your role?
“My incredible team. They show up every day committed to helping our clients become successful members of their workplace and community.”
